Health and Safety

 1. Fire Drills are held regularly and the children are taught fire safety. In case of an actual fire, children will be  moved to 348 Canterbury Drive (Penny Adam's home next door).

2. A staff person must be advised if your child is to be picked up by someone other than yourself.

3. A staff person must be advised when your child arrives. Arrival and departure times are always documented by staff.

4. Each child must wash their hands when they arrive at the Centre, before and after snack, and after using the  toilet.

5. Parents are informed of any communicable disease, illness, infection or infestations within the Centre.

6. When you register your child at the Centre, a form must be filled out with the child's name, date of birth, address, Medicare number and other pertinent information. If there are any changes, please let the staff know so we can keep our information up to date.

7. Medicine will be given upon request of the parent. The medicine must be in it's original container, with original label, including the Physician's name and the child's name, and have a child protective cap. The parent must sign the permission book in order for staff to administer the medication to your child.

8. If your child is ill, you are required to pick up the child within one hour and ensure that alternative care is provided. Parents are required to notify the Centre each time their child is absent and provide the reason for the absence (whether is it illness related or otherwise).
If the child's absence is illness related, you will be required to fully inform the staff about the nature of the  illness and care given (ie. treatment, medication). Depending on the nature of the illness, you may be required to complete a Dept. of Public Health 'Return after Exclusion' form when your child returns to the Centre. We enforce this Provincial Department of Public Health rule.

9. The child's daily record will be kept to record the following:
          Arrival and Departure times
          Health and illness notes
          Reason for absenteeism

9. Children are taught personal hygiene eg. washing of hands and face.

10. No gum is allowed.
